One of those who reacted is Daniel Bernmar (V), hear him tell in the clip.

On Monday, SVT Nyheter Väst was able to report that the Democrats' group leader Martin Wannholt in 2019 had an income of over 400,000 per year as group leader in the region.

At the same time as he is a full-time paid municipal councilor in Gothenburg and earned SEK 800,000 on the municipal assignment.

- I have tried to get the region to stop the payment when we entered the council, I do not think I should have them.

But it was impossible according to the Local Government Act, says Martin Wannholt (D).

It is not possible to waive the fee today

According to the Local Government Act, it is not possible for an elected representative to resign the fee today, but Leif Blomqvist (S) who sits on the City of Gothenburg's fee committee and proposes how much politicians should earn in the city still wants to review the reasonableness of earning double on political assignments.

- We have a meeting within a month and then I will bring it up.

Leif Blomqvist (S) has been involved in politics since the 70s and for a period in the early 2000s he was both municipal councilor and regional councilor.

- I waived my salary as regional councilor then and there were no problems, he says.

V: Max 31,000 after tax

The Left Party wants to go even harder and every year since the election they have tried to reduce politicians' fees in general.

- We think that politicians should not live in a hurry, but should represent the voters.

All politicians for V may keep 31,000 after tax and the rest goes into the party coffers, says Daniel Bernmar (V).

In November, the party proposed together with the MP to reduce the fee for full-time politicians from the current 68,870 to 45,000. But other parties have been against, for example the Social Democrats.

- It is reasonable that the most responsible politicians earn as much as senior officials.

This is done with today's levels, says Leif Blomqvist, (S).
