When SVT's team in Ukraine visited Butja on Tuesday, they were met by lined up body bags.

Local authorities state that so far more than 400 dead have been found.

Before they are buried, they must be carefully documented as part of the investigation into suspected war crimes.

- All prosecutors, investigators and experts in Ukraine will do everything they can, says Venediktova.

The images from the city began to spread only after Russian forces withdrew at the end of March.

Civilians were then seen lying shot in the streets - some with their hands tied behind their backs.

Families were found shot in cars, while tortured people were found in basements.

Russia denies involvement

The Kremlin, for its part, has denied any involvement and claimed that the bodies that were seen were placed out of Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has previously called the incident a "staged provocation".
