In Ireland, 10,000 Ukrainian refugees will be left homeless by the end of the month.

The government had announced that it could accommodate up to 100,000, but with 21,000 arrivals, the country's capacities are already almost exhausted.

More than 20,000 Irish had offered to host them, but they did not meet all the criteria of the Red Cross.

Just over 20% of the government's expected refugees have arrived in Ireland so far, but hotels and bed and breakfasts are already packed.

So the political leaders are studying all the options: empty buildings to be renovated to transform them into emergency accommodation, for example.

The remuneration of the Irish who house

is also on the table, contrary to what the Prime Minister had said several weeks ago.

This system is already in place in the United Kingdom where families receive an average of 400 euros for their reception.

Gymnasiums and party rooms as a backup solution

Associations also call on the Irish to rent their holiday homes urgently, against 300 or 400 euros there too.

It must be said that Ireland counted on the 25,000 accommodation offers from individuals, but after verification by the Red Cross for security issues, barely half were compliant.

What the government was absolutely trying to avoid will therefore surely have to be put in place after Easter, namely gymnasiums and party rooms with cots and tents for Ukrainian refugees.
