According to our colleagues, even if it is located in a very remote place, it is one of the most visited bases on the white continent.

Today, the first British base, installed in 1944, has become a museum and a post office.

Applications until April 25

Among the positions to be filled: a base manager, a store manager and a general assistant.

The people recruited will also have to take part in missions related to biodiversity, such as counting the penguins that evolve in the surroundings.

A former Port Lockroy employee told the BBC that the base is "the most magical place in the world".

The position is scheduled to take up between the end of October and December 2022, for a contract established until March 2023. The only condition for being able to apply: you must have the right to work on British territory.

Applications are open on the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust website until April 25th.

Then, the candidates, who will have caught the attention, will land an interview in May.
