Latu was shown a red card by England referee Luke Pearce in the 67th minute of the game for "dangerous contact with Racing 92 second row Baptiste Chouzenoux while he was in the air", which is prohibited by the regulations, explained the organizer of the European Rugby Cups in a press release.

After a disciplinary hearing, the commission upheld the red card, "deeming that Latu had committed an intentional act of foul play".

"She determined that the offense corresponded to the higher degree of the scale of sanctions of World Rugby", the highest body of the game, that is to say a total sanction of twelve weeks, specifies the press release.

The committee then decided to reduce the penalty by two weeks because the player had pleaded guilty and apologized but also added a week "due to his bad disciplinary record".

"The exact date from which Latu will be able to play again will be determined once his club's schedule is confirmed," said EPCR.

The player, like the EPCR, can appeal the decision.

Racing 92 won the first leg 22-9 on Saturday at the Jean-Bouin stadium.

The round of 16 return, at the Arena de Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
