The new coronavirus vaccine was first provided to Cambodia as one of the quad's efforts, a framework of four countries: Japan, the United States, Australia and India.

In Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, a commemorative ceremony was held on the 12th with the attendance of Prime Minister Hun Sen and the ambassadors of the four quad countries in conjunction with the provision of the vaccine.

In this, India's Ambassador to Cambodia, Cobra Gaddy, said, "Quad will fulfill its responsibilities by providing and supporting vaccines to partner countries," and will contribute to the fair distribution of vaccines in the Indo-Pacific region. I emphasized.

In response, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the efforts of the four countries.

At the online summit meeting in March last year, the four quad countries aiming to realize a "free and open Indo-Pacific" agreed to cooperate to provide vaccines to developing countries, and this time. For the first time, 325,000 doses of vaccine manufactured in India were offered.

In the Indo-Pacific region, it has been pointed out that China is trying to increase its influence through so-called "vaccine diplomacy", and the provision of vaccines by Quad seems to be aimed at countering this movement.
