This is one of the consequences of the Blanquer law: Parisian kindergartens, which welcome more than 800 toddlers over two and a half years old, must close by 2024, or change form.

A decision that irritates many parents and staff of these structures with alternative pedagogy, who gathered Tuesday morning in front of the town hall of the 12th arrondissement.

About 200 people were present, according to the DECOLLAJE collective (DEFense COLLective des Amis des Jardins d'Enfants), to express their support for kindergartens, at the call of three unions (FO, UCP – SUPAP/FSU).

The young and old present notably made letters to give to Patrick Bloche, the early childhood assistant, and decorated a birthday cake to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the kindergartens.

These structures work with educators.

In Paris, 19 establishments welcome children who are often disabled (one in eight, according to the DECOLLAJE collective) and come from families with very modest incomes.

A petition on change.org by the DECOLLAJE collective brings together nearly 17,000 signatories.
