After the party, it's time to pay the bill.

The Metropolitan Police in London announced on Tuesday that they have issued more than 50 fines to people for breaking anti-Covid rules by attending or hosting parties in Downing Street in full confinement.

Scotland Yard did not specify who was targeted, or what events were affected, by these sanctions following "Partygate".

“We are making every effort to move this investigation forward quickly, which means continuing to assess significant amounts of documents,” added British police, who had already imposed 20 first fines at the end of March.

She also indicated that other sanctions could be issued.

The revelations have been linked in recent months on the leaving drinks, birthday parties or other evenings during the successive confinements imposed for two years.

Downing Street said the media would be informed if the Prime Minister was concerned, but has always refused to comment on his wife Carrie Johnson.
