On Tuesday morning, activists from the radical climate protection group “Last Generation” again blocked several streets in Frankfurt.

The morning commuter traffic came to a standstill at a total of nine locations in the Frankfurt city area, for example towards the city center on the 648/Theodor-Heuss-Allee motorway in the direction of the city centre, on the Eschersheimer Landstrasse, on the Mainzer Landstrasse or at the Kaiserleikreisel.

The police are on the road with many emergency services to break up the blockades.

Their work is made more difficult because many of the activists have glued their hands to the asphalt with superglue.

A police spokesman reports that traffic is slowly flowing again at most of the blockades.

At the individual blockades, activists were counted “in the upper single-digit or low double-digit range”.

Several activists were taken into custody.

With their actions, which they describe as "civil disobedience", the radical climate protectionists are protesting against "fossil madness".

They are demanding that the federal government stop investing in fossil fuel infrastructure projects, such as the construction of new gas terminals.

Instead, the government should switch entirely to the expansion of renewable energies.

The activists of the “Last Generation” want to continue and intensify their protest in Frankfurt.

The group's spokeswoman had announced that there would be many more sit-ins in Frankfurt by the end of the week.

The climate activists also want to demonstrate in front of bank buildings.

On Monday afternoon they dumped buckets of black paint in front of the entrances to the Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank headquarters.
