A decree that the victims no longer dared to hope for was published this weekend.
President Kaïs Saïed has confirmed compensation for the families of those injured and dead in the revolution under Ben Ali.
A symbolic gesture on the occasion of the feast of the "martyrs" - in reference to the nationalists who fell under French bullets during an uprising in 1938. These are 129 wounded, 634 people killed, during the revolution who are officially recognized.
A file that had been pending for several years.

It is a good step on the part of Kaïs Saïed that people access their rights.
But we would like the decree to focus more on the moral and symbolic aspects.
The victims and the families had three types of claims: the material claims related to compensation, the care of the injured and then the symbolic aspect, this is what is most important in my opinion

It doesn't go far enough
But for some, the decree does not go far enough.
“
It's good to compensate the wounded and the martyrs of the revolution, but the rest… There are the persecuted, the victims of the old regime, be it the regime of Bourguiba or Ben Ali.
These have not been taken into account in any way in the process of transitional justice which is a process which is guaranteed by the Constitution it has been practically abandoned
”, estimates Abderrazak Kilani opponent and former president of the body general of the martyrs and wounded of the revolution.
Nearly 1,500 people consider themselves wrongly excluded
