Due to the mold and the construction dust that has formed in the apartment, Laith has had breathing problems and is on sick leave from work.

Hear and see how the family was affected by the water leak in the clip above.

The tenant-owner association is responsible for the rebuilding of the roof, they have also torn out the affected rooms and made sure that they are dried out.

But the costs of restoring the surface layer in the bathroom must be borne by the family themselves, with reference to the fact that they should contact their insurance company.

The family has a home and tenant-owner's insurance, but it does not cover the damages, as they were caused by a leak from the outside.

This type of damage is not covered by the company's insurance terms.

The association is restoring the bathroom

After SVT visited the family, the association has decided to restore the bathroom.

But who will bear the cost has not yet been decided.

Hear Vice President Selim Azaksson talk about the decision in the clip below:

Compensation for damages

According to lawyer Peter Stark, at Konsumenternas försäkringsbyrå, one way to get compensation is to go against the association and claim that they did not take care of the maintenance of the property as they should.

- They have the ultimate responsibility according to the Housing Act over the condition of the property, and in that way may be able to claim compensation for damages, says Peter Stark.
