The Västernorrland region has been undergoing major problems for a long time, including redundancies of nurses due to dissatisfaction with, among other things, salaries.

Kurt Pettersson has on Monday requested to leave his post, and in a press release on the region's website, Pettersson states the following reasons why he is leaving his post:

- I have made the assessment that the conditions for completing the assignment have changed for me in recent times.

The assignment requires not least a stable and predictable support within the health and medical care board.

Against this background, I have weighed the pros and cons, and come to the conclusion that the best thing is for a new management to take over, he says in the press release.

Ends already this weekend

Kurt Pettersson will leave his position on 15 April.

The Chairman of the Regional Board, Glenn Nordlund, comments on the announcement in the same press release.

He is responsible for both hiring and dismissing the regional director and deputy regional director.

Kurt Pettersson has also been Deputy Regional Director.

- I respect Kurt Pettersson's message and have approved his request.

The health service in Region Västernorrland is in a difficult situation and we therefore need to move forward immediately with a new leadership, he says in the press release.

Transitional solution

The regional director has been commissioned to start a recruitment process for a new health and medical care director.

At the same time, a transitional solution must be developed.
