Attempts to sever relations with Russia could threaten the power supply of nearly 100 million Europeans in countries that rely on nuclear power plants as their biggest source of clean energy.

It is noted that Russian nuclear reactors provide more than half of Ukraine's electricity, and also produce about 40% of all electricity in the territory "from Finland to Bulgaria."

Earlier, the European Union adopted the fifth package of anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.

In accordance with it, from August 2022, the EU introduces a ban on the import of coal and other solid fossil fuels if they are exported from Russia.
