In Isère, outgoing President Emmanuel Macron came out on top in the first round of the presidential election, with 26.85% of the vote on Sunday.

He is closely followed by his rival for the second round, Marine Le Pen, with 23.03% of the vote, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

Territorial disparities

The Isère left generally rallied around Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

In Grenoble, the Insoumis obtained 38.94% of the vote, far ahead of Emmanuel Macron (25.31%).

However, the ecological municipality only recorded 8.95% of the votes in favor of the EELV candidate Yannick Jadot, behind Marine Le Pen (10.21%).

Arriving in the lead in the department, Emmanuel Macron collected 16,400 more votes than in the first round of the 2017 presidential election. France 3 also notes strong territorial disparities in Isère.

In the North, the polls lean largely in favor of Marine Le Pen while the South is more committed to the causes of Emmanuel Macron and Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
