But which ballots were favored or shunned by the young people who went to the polling station?

Among those under 25, Jean-Luc Mélenchon comes first with 31% of the vote.

A trend reinforced among their elders aged 25 to 34, among whom the candidate of France Insoumise obtained 34% of the votes.

In the two age groups, Marine Le Pen comes second with respectively 26 and 25% of the vote.

Emmanuel Macron less popular among young people

President candidate Emmanuel Macron is much less popular among the youngest.

Only 20% of 18-24 year olds chose their ballot for the first round and 23% among 25-34 year olds against 27.35% in the general population.

This vote marks the break with the over 70s who voted for the president with 41% of senior votes.

The environmentalist trend remains stronger among young people than in the general population.

Thus, 8% of those under 25 voted for Yannick Jadot, who only obtained 4.49% of the vote.
