Three men were indicted on Saturday as part of the investigation into the arson in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque.

One of them has been remanded in custody.

In this town in the Pyrénées-Orientales located about twenty kilometers from Perpignan, eight people died in the explosion of a building, on the night of February 13 to 14.

Among them are two small children.

The three men are suspected of having deliberately set fire to a grocery store located on the ground floor of the building.

Justice suspects them of having organized an insurance fraud.

Two of them are in an irregular situation on the national territory.

Placed under warrant of deposit

A 27-year-old Algerian, injured during the fire and since hospitalized in Montpellier, is indicted for "deliberate destruction by fire resulting in death, injury and destruction".

He was placed under arrest warrant.

The other two men are a 43-year-old Tunisian, the owner of a grocery store located on the ground floor of the burnt block of buildings, and another 40-year-old Tunisian.

They are indicted for "complicity in crimes and misdemeanors".

Both were imprisoned on Saturday, but the debates on their pre-trial detention were postponed until Tuesday, according to the prosecution.
