The two big losers of these elections,

the candidates of the traditional parties Valérie Pécresse, for the Republicans, and Anne Hidalgo, for the Socialist Party,

have asked tonight for the vote for Emmanuel Macron to prevent Marie Le Pen from winning after knowing the first results of this first electoral round.

The environmentalist candidate,

Yannick Yadot (4.3% of the vote), has also asked Macron for support,

as well as the communist candidate, Fabien Roussel

(2.6%).

Jean Luc Mélenchon, third in these elections and the only candidate who has been able to group and give hope to part of the left, has also made this appeal:

"Do not give the vote to Marine Le Pen".

Valérie Pécresse has garnered 5% of the vote, falling behind far-right candidate Éric Zemmour, while the mayor of Paris, one of the great disappointments for the left, obtained just 2% and came in tenth place, almost behind tail.

The disappointment in the socialist's headquarters after knowing the count was evident: "I know how disappointed you are tonight, but together we will make the objective balance but we will never throw in the towel," said Hidalgo,

encouraging his voters to support Macron in the second round.

Pécresse also asked for the vote for Macron, to prevent the advance of the extreme right.

«Despite the passion that drives me, I have not achieved it in this campaign.

Tonight the reflection is that the people have voted and their verdict prevails.

it is a personal and collective disappointment.

I take responsibility for my part », he said.

Bump

Hidalgo has achieved the worst result in the party's history since 1969, and his defeat raises questions about the survival of the formation and also about his future as head of the Paris mayor's office, since his position after this fall is already very weakened .

The degree of the crash is illustrated by this anecdote: in a school in Pau, in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques,

they forgot to place Hidalgo's ballot papers and for two hours, no voter claimed them.

An inspector noticed it.

Despite the fact that, as the campaign progressed, the poor expectations of the vote increased, Hidalgo wanted to continue.

Actually the crisis of his party finds its roots in the mandate of François Hollande.

Part of the socialist voters went with Macron when he created his party and the loss of support has continued until now.

With the excuse of the useful vote, others have joined the ranks of Jean Luc Mélenchon, the only candidate from the left who had a real chance of going to the second round of elections.

In Hidalgo's ranks, however, such a bad result was not expected.

This election has dynamited the left division,

since the other blow of these elections is that of the other party that has alternated power in France.

When Valérie Pécresse won the Republican primaries, part of Macron's entourage thought that she could be a serious threat.

Yesterday it was advanced by Zemmour.

Like Hidalgo, the candidate who was a minister with Nicolas Sarkozy and president of the Île de France region is now fighting for the future of her party.
