Iran announces sanctions on 24 Americans

  The 24 Americans "supported, organized, carried out and intensified the unilateral coercive measures of the United States against the Iranian people and government in support of terrorist organizations and their activities," the statement said.

  The statement said that by preventing Iranians from accessing medicines and medical services and equipment, the United States has worsened the living conditions of Iranians, especially during the new crown epidemic, which has deprived Iranians of their basic rights, endangered the lives of millions of people in Iran, and took a negatively impact their economic and social rights.

These individuals facilitated these "illegal actions".

  According to the list released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the Americans sanctioned this time include former U.S. Army Chief of Staff George Casey and former U.S. Central Command Commander Joseph Voter and others.

  In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China and Germany.

Under the agreement, Iran pledged to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions on Iran.

In May 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.
