The expedition will start in the autumn of 2023 and the five girls are expected to complete the 190 km long distance in 70 days.

Temperatures down to minus 50 degrees are expected.

Ice ice is a good start, says Toby Cowern, who trains the five firefighters for their adventure.

Cowern himself has experience from both the British command force Royal Marines and the British intelligence service.

Antarctic Fire Angels may be the first expedition to cross Antarctica that consists only of women from a rescue service.

They carry out part of the training in Västerbotten.

In addition to swimming ice-cold in Lake Tavelsjön, they mainly train in the terrain around Robertsfors, but will also winter camping in the southern Lapland mountains.

- They are used to working in a warm environment, now it's the cold they face, says Toby Cowern.
