Ukrainian-British and Ukrainian-Austrian summits in Kyiv

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on Saturday, and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to both the British and Ukrainian sides.

"Just started a one-on-one meeting with President Zelensky," Andrei Zybyah, deputy director of Ukraine's presidential office, wrote on Facebook today, posting a picture showing Johnson and Zelensky sitting at a table facing each other.

Zelensky had also received Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Kyiv earlier in the day.

For his part, according to the German news agency "DPA", a British government spokesman said that "the Prime Minister traveled to Ukraine to meet President Zelensky personally as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people," adding that the two sides intend to discuss the long-term support provided by Britain to Ukraine.

The spokesman indicated that Johnson intends to offer a new financial and military aid package to Ukraine.
