In the basement during their stay, Medborgarskolan teaches Swedish two days a week.
- It is difficult for them with Swedish, but when they start meeting Swedish children, it is probably faster and easier, says mother Tamara Pidduda.
Swedish easy to learn
She herself thinks that Swedish is easier to learn than English.
- Swedish has less grammar, so it's easier for me, says Tamara.
She and her sons have moved to the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine and she hopes that knowledge of the Swedish language will provide an opportunity for a better job.
- We are trying to start a new life here, but all my relatives are still in Ukraine so it is hard to believe in the future.
Want to return home
Still, she wants to return to Ukraine when the war is over.
- This is where I was born, says Tamara Pidduda, and during the coffee break she picks up the phone and scrolls through the news about war.
