On April 8, local time, an S-92 helicopter belonging to the Air Force of the Korean Regional Coast Guard crashed into the sea 370 kilometers southwest of Maro Island in Jeju-do, killing 2 of the 4 people on board, 1 missing and 1 people are rescued.
The helicopter was about to return to Busan after dropping six rescuers on a South Korean coast guard ship that was involved in another maritime rescue, but crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff.
The guard ship immediately launched the rescue.
At present, 17 ships, including patrol boats, are searching for the missing in the area where the accident occurred.
