Johan Pehrson's first day at his new job began with morning TV on both TV4 and SVT.

He then went to Gävle to attend a square meeting and meet voters.

With a weak opinion and only five months left until the election, a heavy task now awaits the new party leader.

- We have an opinion crisis but no crisis of ideas for what the Liberals will mean for the country for the next hundred years, he says.

Not been nice

The recent years' trips to both the left and the right are the basic explanation for why Nyamko Sabuni has had difficulty reaching his political message, according to Johan Pehrson (L).

He calls the internal criticism leveled at Sabuni in public light shameful.

- Not everyone has been nice and kind, I think.

I think it has been shameful how people sometimes said things and slandered, had internal meetings where the information was then leaked, he says and continues:

- It is a lack of personal leadership that they deserve criticism for, says Johan Pehrson.

Does not leave the Riksdag

In SVT Novus 'latest opinion poll, the Liberals received 2.1 percent of the voters' support, which places them far below the Riksdag's 4 percent barrier.

Despite this, Johan Pehrson is convinced that the party will remain in the Riksdag after the election.

The solution is to attract voters who are not looking for populist solutions to major societal problems.

- It is about finding those who like a policy that relates to difficult goal conflicts and does not simplify too much, he says.
