Khalaf Al Habtoor contributes 10 million dirhams to the "Billion Meals" initiative

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founder and Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, donated AED 10 million to the “Billion Meals” initiative, the largest in the region to provide food support to the needy and the poor, especially children, refugees, displaced people and those affected by natural disasters and crises in 50 countries around the world.

The Al Habtoor Group teams will contribute to distributing food parcels within the operations of the "Billion Meals" initiative organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in cooperation with the World Food Program, the Network of Regional Food Banks, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The United Nations for Refugees, the Emirates Food Bank, and a number of institutions specialized in charitable, humanitarian and social work in the countries covered by the initiative.


Donations and contributions from business sectors, companies, government and private sector institutions have poured into the "One Billion Meals" initiative since it opened the door for donations at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, to contribute to providing a food safety net for the poor and hungry, based on the moral responsibility and humanitarian commitment of the UAE.


The initiative also witnessed a wide public interaction, represented by the willingness of individuals from all segments of society and of different age groups to donate to the initiative in translation of the values ​​of charity and human solidarity in the UAE society, and in consolidating its role as an influential contributor to the efforts of international confrontation of humanitarian challenges and providing full support to urgent issues such as the hunger crisis.


A model of charitable and humanitarian work


Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founder and Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group said: “It is sad that in the 21st century hundreds of millions are still dying of starvation. We must all come together to eradicate these pests, each according to his capabilities.


He added: "Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, we establish a noble model of charitable and humanitarian work through what our parents and grandparents taught us, more than anywhere else in the world. We have long invested in core issues in order to improve human life without separating between Nationality, religion or ethnicity, and I am grateful for my ability to contribute to the "Billion Meals" initiative that originates from the UAE and is organized by "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives". 


Al Habtoor stressed that every small effort brings us closer to achieving the goal of "one billion meals", and we all have to contribute to this national mission out of gratitude to God Almighty for all the good He has bestowed upon us.
