- A few days ago we had a family who took the train down here from Helsingborg.

I think that many people appreciate our concept and that it might feel "more dignified" to come to a real store and try out among sizes, colors and models, says Madeleine Laurin, who took the initiative for the temporary store out at Jägersro in Malmö.

The store is a stone's throw from the Swedish Migration Agency at Jägersro.

You do not have to walk many hundreds of meters to get a set of clothes or a new toothbrush.

There is a steady stream of people waiting for the gray metal shutter to be pulled up for the day.

- What people ask for the most are chargers, phone cards, hygiene items, paper and pens, says Gordonas, who works as a volunteer.

Many want to donate

Every now and then, people come with overflowing bags of things you want to donate.

There is also a warehouse down in the harbor where everything is sorted.

- We have posted on our social media what it is we need.

A while ago, a woman showed up with a large load of warm clothes, cat food, deodorants, wet wipes and neatly folded empty bags.

A good mix of different things we need, says Madeleine Laurin.

Those who visit the store seem to appreciate the initiative and to help there are volunteers who speak both Ukrainian and Russian.

- We arrived three days ago.

This is the first time we are in the store and we are very happy to get so much help, says Julia in broken English, who has found a nice coat and a pair of nice winter boots.
