An avalanche killed two people on Tuesday in the Ecrins massif, in Isère.

Two ski tourers in their forties died, we learned this Thursday from the region's emergency services.

The two men were obviously from the Grenoble basin.

The bodies found on Thursday

The two forties had gone for a run near Pointe Maximin, in the town of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans.

This is where they "got caught in an avalanche in a casting on the way up", according to the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) of Isère.

Help was mobilized as soon as the alert was given by relatives who did not see the two men return on Wednesday evening.

The bodies, recovered Thursday morning, were transported to Grenoble by helicopter, specify the gendarmes.
