Nyamko Sabuni was elected unanimously at the Liberals' national meeting in June 2019.

- Despite the fact that Nyamko was elected unanimously, the debate about politics never subsided, says Torkild Strandberg.

She sat as party leader for just over three years, how would you sum up those years?

- Not so successful in terms of opinion, but it happened a colossal amount of content.

The January agreement was scrapped, the party was brought back to the bourgeoisie and we formulated a clear position on the government issue.

It is a rather magnificent achievement by the party leader in a short time, says Torkild Strandberg.

About the successor: "Able leader"

Johan Pehrson, the party's first deputy chairman, will take over as the new party leader in accordance with the party's statutes.

Johan Pehrson says in a press release that he takes on the new task with "humility and energy".

- I have worked close to him during my time in the Riksdag.

He is a capable leader, he has experience from other areas of society than politics, says Torkild Strandberg.

How will the decision affect the Liberals?

- The course that parties have set remains, it will be a new leadership.

How it turns out in public opinion, we all who are part of this party have a responsibility to ensure that it is good.

I think we have all the prerequisites to make a good election result in September, says Torkild Strandberg.
