The Donetsk governor said that thousands of civilians were at the Kramatorsk station when it was targeted by two missiles.

He accused Russian forces of being responsible for the bombing to prevent the evacuation of civilians.

For its part, the Ukrainian presidency said that the attack was a deliberate massacre, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Russians bombed the Kramatorsk station while thousands of civilians were waiting for evacuation, and that the Russians were targeting civilians because of their failure to confront during the battles.

On the other hand, the Russian "Novosti" agency quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as denying the bombing of the Kramatorsk train station (eastern Ukraine), and the ministry said that the missile model that targeted the Kramatorsk station is only with the Ukrainian army, and that its forces had no targets today, Friday, in Kramatorsk.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also accused the Ukrainian forces of carrying out the missile attack on the railway station, describing it as "aggressive and barbaric."

She added that Kyiv would not escape responsibility for the incident, and urged the world to stop supplying arms to Ukraine.

The bloody missile attack on the train station sparked strong reactions in western capitals.

US President Joe Biden considered the attack another horrific atrocity committed by Russia against civilians, while British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said targeting civilians is a war crime for which Russia and (President Vladimir) Putin will be held accountable.


For her part, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the attack on a train station that was used to evacuate civilians is a despicable act.

In turn, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack on the Kramatorsk station, and stressed his country's continued humanitarian, military and financial support for Ukraine.

The European Union's foreign policy official, Josep Borrell, also condemned the attack, describing it as another attempt to close the escape routes to those fleeing the unjustified war, as he put it.

As for the Spanish Foreign Minister, he described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law aimed at punishing civilians, and those responsible must be identified and brought to justice.

The spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations also said that Antonio Guterres reminds all parties of their obligations under international law to protect civilians, stressing that the attack on the train station in Kramatorsk is totally unacceptable.

Evacuation from Kherson

On the other hand, the Russian Defense Ministry showed pictures it said were of the evacuation of 188 foreign citizens from Kherson Province towards Russian territory via the Crimea.

The ministry said that buses evacuated citizens of Libya, Syria, Egypt, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan from Kherson province, including Russian and Ukrainian citizens.


On the ground, the governor of the Ukrainian Sumy province announced the withdrawal of Russian forces from the entire province, which is located in the north-east of the country.
