The town hall of Nice has opened an internal investigation to find out how children from the nursery school of La Digue des Français could have come into contact with rat poison.

Thursday at midday, while playing, eleven students from this establishment in the west of the city managed to "find" this poison "which was buried" in the playground, according to the municipality.

The firefighters intervened to ensure that there was no danger to their health.

No ingestion

"They told us the surveillance measures to be taken within 24 hours without showing too much concern," said the director general of the Family and Education department at the city of Nice.

None of the children had ingested the product.

"The parents were informed of this situation immediately," said Serge Massiera, confirming the opening of the investigation and a "service inspection".
