Moscow: Our goals are being achieved.. and the military operation in Ukraine may end soon

The Kremlin said on Friday that what Russia describes as a "special operation" in Ukraine may end "in the near future", as its "goals are being achieved" thanks to the "effort" of the Russian military and Russian negotiators.

In another context, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is aware that some countries that tried to adopt a balanced position were pressured to vote yesterday, Thursday, to suspend Russia's membership in the Human Rights Council, according to Al Arabiya.net.

On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly suspended Russia from the council, due to reports of "gross and systematic violations of human rights" in Ukraine, which prompted Moscow to announce its withdrawal from the council.

In another context, Russia presented its darkest picture yet of the six-week-old war in Ukraine, describing the "tragedy" of the high casualties in its ranks and the significant economic consequences of the sanctions.

Russia has previously acknowledged that its offensive has not progressed as quickly as it wanted, but Peskov on Thursday expressed regret at the high number of Russian deaths.

He told Sky News: "We have huge troop losses. It is a great tragedy for us."

In another context, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said today that the support provided to Ukraine in its defense against Russia will change if the tactics used by Moscow in the war change.

"If the tactics of the Russians change, what we give them (that is, Ukraine) will also change," Wallace told reporters during a visit to Romania.
