Prime Minister Candidate Han Deok-soo countered today (9th) that he had bought a house from a father-in-law at a low price in the past, saying, "I bought it at a reasonable price."

Previously, News Bus reported that a candidate purchased a detached house in Jongno-gu, Seoul for 380 million won from his father-in-law in 1989, and as of January 1990, the official land price of this house was 800 million won, and it was reported that there were suspicions of evasion of gift tax.

One candidate said through the personnel hearing preparation group, "I bought a house from my father-in-law in 1989, before the official land price was introduced." "I bought a house," he said.

He explained, "This amount was much larger than the price of a 50-pyeong apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, sold by a candidate (before purchasing a detached house)."

He then emphasized, "I paid all taxes and utility bills related to the purchase of the house. Because I sold it at a reasonable price, I never received a separate notice of gift tax payment from the National Tax Service," he emphasized.

One candidate emphasized that the suspicion had already been resolved, saying, "I explained the same details in detail at the time of the Prime Minister's personnel hearing in March 2007."
