An American journalist and radio presenter lost her job after she posted on her Twitter account a tweet mocking the brown suit worn by US Vice President Kamala Harris.

And American journalist Amber Athey wrote, in a tweet on Twitter, "Kamala looks like an employee of UPS, what will brown do for you? Nothing seems to be," in a comment on the brown suit that the US Vice President wore during The 2022 State of the Union address last March.

According to Athey, many accounts on social networking sites used Harris's clothes as a mockery, "Some users compared her to Hershey's chocolate, while others wondered why she was wearing the same color as her chair," Athey wrote in The Spectator magazine, which she works for.

Athi, Harris, in her tweet, likened the workers of the American company "UPS" for transportation and delivery, which adopts brown uniforms for its employees, as the company promotes itself with the slogan: "What will brown benefit you?"

Kamala looks like a UPS employee — what can brown do for you?

Nothing good, apparently.

Athey said that she initially did not encounter any problems with her tweet, until she criticized protests in support of "transgender children" at the University of North Texas in the United States.

"I was targeted by a group of maniacal left-wing activists who want to chemically castrate children in the name of 'gender affirmation'," Athey said.

Athey added that she was the victim of a smear campaign "aimed at silencing her", and reported that these groups had contacted WMAL, the radio station for which she works, and the Spectatorworld magazine about her tweet, which was described as "racist". ".

On March 9, a week after her tweet, Athey received a phone call from officials at the "Comulus Media" company that owns the radio station, and they told her that her services had been terminated due to her "racist" tweet against Kamala Harris, and Athey was not given an opportunity to defend herself, according to her.

Athi commented on her dismissal, saying, "Political criticism has no value if it is not used to tell the truth in the face of those in power without fear of professional consequences."

Selected interactions

After Athey published the news of her dismissal from her job, many activists and social media users expressed solidarity with her, with one of them writing: "There is nothing racist in the tweet," and another said, "She meant the color of the suit, not Harris' skin color."
