Since last month, the JICA = Japan International Cooperation Agency's research team has been conducting activities to investigate local hygiene and medical conditions in the neighboring country of Ukraine, Moldova, and members held an online debriefing session on the 8th.

According to it, about 400,000 people have been evacuated from Ukraine so far in Moldova, and although many people have moved to another country after that, about 90,000 people are still in the country.



Of these, 5% of the total live in evacuation shelters, and most of them live in ordinary households.



Some of the evacuees are patients with cancer and diabetes, as well as those who need treatment by dialysis, but it is difficult to secure therapeutic drugs and medical equipment at the hospital in the capital Chisinau. about it.



Professor Tatsuhiko Kubo of Hiroshima University Graduate School, who is the leader of the study team, pointed out that "there is a shortage of nurses and human resources who can maintain the equipment as well as medical equipment, and further support is needed."



JICA is continuing to dispatch medical personnel to Moldova and is considering how to provide medium- to long-term support.
