A dog was killed by the police this Wednesday in Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) after attacking two passers-by.

The facts occurred in the evening in a residence in the town, reports BFMTV.

A first victim, a 15-year-old girl, was bitten by the American Staff dog, who was not wearing a muzzle.

Called to the scene, the police were then taken to task by several residents.

The altercation further excited the dog, who tried to bite the police.

A man in custody

While trying to calm the animal, a second teenager was in turn bitten on the hand and thigh.

The dog refusing to let go of its "grip", the police officers then opened fire eight times to neutralize it.

Both victims were hospitalized.

The man who had custody of the dog at the time was arrested with difficulty, insulting and attacking one of the police officers.

He was taken into custody for rebellion and violence.

An official is slightly injured.

An investigation has been opened to shed light on the course of events.
