How did beasts originate?

What role did the evolution of its tooth type play in this process?

It has long attracted the attention of the paleontological community.

In collaboration with researcher Mao Fangyuan from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Meng Jin, researcher from the American Museum of Natural History, they recently discovered a new fossil of a paradontia mastodon about 120 million years ago in the Jehol Biota, Liaoning Province. Specimens, and through the in-depth comparative study of the jaw and tooth structure of the two main groups of fossil specimens of odontids, provides new evidence for understanding the origin and evolution of mammals.

The important results of this paleontological research paper were recently published online in the international professional academic journal "Polish Journal of Paleontology".

On April 6, researcher Mao Fangyuan accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency in Beijing to explain fossil discoveries and research results.
