It is above all a symbolic gesture.
This Thursday at the end of the afternoon, the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic will inaugurate the place d'Ukraine not far from the town hall.
"In support of the Ukrainian people, a plaque mentioning ''Place de l'Ukraine'' is added by the City of Bordeaux to the Human Rights Square", explains the municipality in a press release.
The ceremony will take place in front of the Palais de Justice on this emblematic square in Bordeaux from 4 p.m. in the presence of the “Ukraine Amitié” association.
This denomination will be temporary, until the end of the war.
The town hall also had the Ukrainian anthem played during the last town council meeting when, like other towns, it has welcomed many refugees since the start of the war.
