On Sunday evening, March 13, the police were alerted to Årby center in Eskilstuna after several people heard gunfire.

No victims were found at the scene, but findings made police convinced that a shooting had taken place.

Small arms

A few days later, a 21-year-old man was arrested who is suspected of being the shooter in the drama.

In connection with the arrest, a weapon was also seized and the police are investigating whether that weapon can be linked to the shooting or not.

- It is about a handgun, says Johan Karlsson.

Last week he was also arrested and later a 17-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated protection of a criminal and aggravated weapon crime.

Five arrested during the week

This week has since continued with more arrests.

- We have five arrested.

On Tuesday, three men were arrested, on Wednesday one person and today, on Thursday morning, one person was arrested, says Johan Karlsson.

The four who were arrested earlier in the week are suspected of aggravated protection of a criminal and the person who was arrested on Thursday is suspected of aiding and abetting a felony.

The detainees are between 17 and 30 years old and will be remanded in custody by prosecutors.

- They have been arrested in various places in Eskilstuna.

But they have connections to criminal individuals who belong to the Årby area, says Johan Karlsson.

He does not want to say anything about the state of evidence so far.

Largely due to the fact that the police investigation is in a sensitive situation.

Do you see that these people have links to other shootings lately?

- They are not directly suspected in any other case, but we are of course looking at connections.

We see a connection in the fact that several shootings took place over a limited period of time.
