For almost a year now, residents of a city in Melun (Seine-et-Marne) no longer receive their mail in their mailbox.

The postman no longer goes there and the letters are to be collected at the Vaux-le-Pénil sorting center (Seine-et-Marne), nearly 4 kilometers further.

People deprived of mail indeed live in a tower whose demolition is scheduled for 2023. Many occupants have left the building but around 50 apartments are still inhabited.

“No one cares because the tower is going to be destroyed.

Downstairs, the thugs smash everything, the mailboxes, the elevator…”, testified an 83-year-old resident.

Mail delivery was halted because the safety of postmen could not be guaranteed and mailboxes were regularly broken into.

The social landlord wanted to have the mail routed by guards.

La Poste, however, replied that the latter were not sworn.
