A garbage collector declared dead after becoming unwell during his working day came back to life under the astonished eyes of his colleagues.

The facts occurred on March 29 in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis), reports

Le Parisien

.

The 66-year-old man, an employee of Sepur, had just started his service when he fell ill.

His colleagues gave him a cardiac massage before being relayed by the Samu… in vain.

The Lazarus Phenomenon

“They declared the death in stride, says a Sepur official.

But when they got the body up, they realized he wasn't dead.

His heart had indeed started beating again.

The Samu, who had already left, was immediately called back to the scene.

The sexagenarian, still in a coma, was hospitalized and his condition is still critical ten days later.

This kind of "miracle" is well known to rescuers.

This is Lazarus phenomenon, an extremely rare case of autonomic resuscitation that often occurs after prolonged cardiac massage.
