Regarding the relocation of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's office to Yongsan, the Ministry of National Defense signed a contract with a relocation-related company today (7th) and will begin the full-scale relocation.

At a regular briefing at 10:30 am today, Ministry of National Defense spokesman Boo Seung-chan said, "We will move in sequential order, except for the Ministry of National Defense's command department and the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

The Ministry of National Defense will first relocate 6 of the 10 floors of the main building, from the 5th to the 10th floor.

Accordingly, each department of the Ministry of National Defense is preparing for full-scale relocation by shredding security documents, etc., from early this morning.

Departmental staff moved in a hurry, loading luggage on carts and moving frequently.

There are a lot of important documents and they are thoroughly prepared in advance to prevent security accidents.

The reserve cost before the Ministry of National Defense is 11.8 billion won, which is divided into 3 billion won for facility maintenance, 5.5 billion won for communication equipment installation, and 3.3 billion won for moving expenses.

Spokesperson Boo Seung-chan said, "The transfer is made through a reserve fund," and explained that it is difficult to spend the Ministry of National Defense's own budget.

There are also voices of concern that the training could be disrupted because the period overlapped with the Korea-US joint exercise in the first half of this year.

In this regard, Spokesperson Boo Seung-chan said, "I know that the Joint Chiefs of Staff or the Ministry of National Defense will push for relocation after the ROK-U.S. joint exercise ends."
