A network of fuel thieves was dismantled in early April in the Ardennes, around the town of Grandpré.

Two men were arrested and placed in police custody, reports L'Ardennais.

The investigation, entrusted to the gendarmerie, began several months ago after repeated thefts.

Agricultural machinery parked on Ardennes farms was particularly targeted.

Seized siphoning equipment

Thanks to the investigations, the gendarmes arrested two suspects this weekend.

Searches led to the discovery of 70 liters of stolen gasoline, numerous cans and siphoning equipment.

In total, more than 1,200 liters of fuel have been stolen in recent months.

The two suspects were released at the end of their police custody and will soon be tried by the Charleville-Mézières court.
