In the autumn, Anders Lindblom got a job at the Department of Infection Control and Health Protection at the Swedish Public Health Agency (FHM).

When the authority in a press release on March 9 stated that state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell would leave his assignment to work with the World Health Organization WHO's global vaccination campaign, it was also announced that he would be replaced by Anders Lindblom.

But FHM's press service now tells Dagens Medicin that Lindblom's contract as a state epidemiologist does not extend beyond 30 June.

Already decided

The Public Health Agency's press manager Christer Janson tells TT that it has always been clear that Anders Lindblom would only be in the post until 30 June.

- It was decided that way from the beginning.

Anders Lindblom will continue until at least June 30, after which it is unclear so far.

But it is a while left, says Jansson.

He says that at the moment there is no recruitment of a successor.

The fact that FHM chose a time-limited service for the state epidemiologist was for practical reasons.

- I think it came so suddenly that they tried to find a solution as quickly and easily as possible and then it became like this.

No connection

According to Janson, there is no connection between Anders Tegnell not yet starting a top job at WHO and Anders Lindbloms ending on 30 June.

He says that Anders Tegnell now has a holiday and has no special role at the Swedish Public Health Agency.

The tours around Anders Tegnell's new top job have been many since it was announced on March 9.

At the end of March, Svenska Dagbladet revealed that his new job does not exist.

At least not yet.

WHO spokesmen claimed that no record had been nailed to Tegnell.

The Swedish Public Health Agency stated that it was the WHO that had requested expert support and that after dialogue with the Government Offices, it had been decided to appoint Tegnell as senior adviser.

A couple of days later came the next turn.

Then the Public Health Agency's press manager Christer Janson said that everything was a mistake.

Anders Tegnell's job was not fully negotiated.

- We thought it was clear but it was not, he said in an interview with Expressen.
