Fifty people have gathered this Wednesday in front of the steps of Congress and have stained the facade of the Lions with biodegradable red ink in protest at

the passivity of the Government

in the face of the climate crisis and against a law that they consider insufficient.

The Scientific Rebellion movement has mobilized before Congress and has carried out a

nonviolent civil disobedience action

coinciding with the publication of the last part of the IPCC report, the main scientific analysis on climate change.

Dozens of demonstrators,

mostly scientists

, have sat in front of the main façade of the Congress shouting slogans such as

There is no planet B

or

Without a planet there is no future

, while other concentrated carried a banner that read:

Red Alert.

In support of this act, the deputy of United We Can Juan López de Uralde has come out to share the demands of the protesters, who

have criticized him for his party having "surrendered"

and not promoting a better law against climate change.

Up to

eleven police vans

have come to the scene to evict the protesters while the cleaning services have already begun to clean the facade.

In a leaflet, the protesters define themselves as people belonging to the scientific community, reproach political inaction in the face of the climate crisis and explain that they take action because

their warnings "have not been heard" despite the fact that humanity is facing their " biggest challenge"

.

"Political inaction is criminal. We can only rebel," they emphasize in their "red alert" to request a change in the system.
