China News Service, April 6 (Reuters) - The Czech Republic has shipped BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicles and T-72 tanks to Ukraine, citing sources from the Czech Defense Ministry, Reuters reported on April 5.

Previously, Czech TV released footage of the Czech Republic using trains to transport tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, calling it a "gift" from the Czech Republic and NATO allies.

The British "Financial Times" reported that this is the first time that other countries have been known to provide tanks to Ukraine since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Czech officials said the country had been supplying Ukraine with equipment for weeks, including T-72 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored transport vehicles and howitzers.

Since February 24, the Czech Republic has sent military aid worth nearly 1 billion Czech crowns ($45 million) to Ukraine, a spokesman for the Czech Defense Ministry said.

The Czech Defense Minister said earlier that he would not confirm or deny details of aid to Ukraine.

The Czech Republic is a member of NATO.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky repeatedly called on the West to provide military support to Ukraine, saying that Ukraine only needs 1% of NATO's tanks and aircraft, and will not ask for more.
