The government has appointed an inquiry into what a general ban on bottom trawling could look like in the future.

The decision on the investigation is a remnant of the January agreement.

The industry believes that the image of bottom trawling that is harmful to the bottom is directly incorrect.

- It is a total misconception, we have been fishing on the same bottoms for 200 years.

These are productive bottoms.

Had we destroyed them, we would not have been able to fish there.

If I destroy the bottoms, we will also destroy the gear, says Peter Ronelöv Olsson, chairman of the Swedish Fishermen's Producers' Organization.

A first proposal from the inquiry will be presented in the autumn of this year, the entire inquiry will be completed next year.

- I want you to take a holistic approach to fishing, we look forward to the process.

We hope it will be honest, says Peter Ronelöv Olsson.
