A Chinese announcer who used to criticize kimchi in the past delivered a message to be careful about Corona 19 on a personal SNS broadcast, but was expelled from all programs.

According to foreign media such as China's Sohu.com on the 5th local time, Liaoning TV announcer Zhu Xia (朱 霞) from Liaoning Province in northern China conducted a live broadcast of her through her personal SNS on the 30th of last month.

At that time, Zhusha received a request from a netizen, "Please tell me the current status of Corona 19 in Shenyang," while she was broadcasting on SNS.

In response, Zhusha said, "The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported today in Shenyang City is 1 in Weihong District and 7 in Heping District. However, the situation in Huanggu District is not optimistic."

She added, "People living in Hwanggu-gu should be careful," adding, "I cannot say in detail the reason, but since it is an area with a high risk of contracting COVID-19, personal quarantine should be thorough."

After she mentioned the place 'Hwang Gugu' several times, Zhusha asked, "Did you understand what I said?" She repeatedly emphasized to netizens to be careful.

After the broadcast, suspicions arose among netizens as to whether the city of Shenyang was covering up the spread of Corona 19.

As the controversy over the broadcast spread, Liaoning TV removed Zhusha from all the programs he was appearing on and suspended him.

Zhusha previously served as a news anchor and host of various programs for Liaoning TV.

A source from Liaoning TV said, "Zhusha's inappropriate remarks regarding Corona 19 have damaged the image of our broadcasting station and has had a negative impact on society."

When this fact became known, Chinese netizens strongly protested, "Please tell me what kind of remarks are inappropriate", "Is it a sin for a journalist to tell the truth", and "I just told you to be careful, but this is an overreaction".

Meanwhile, in January of last year, when South Korea and China were arguing over the origin of kimchi, Zhusha deprecated “kimchi as a trivial food” and drew outrage from domestic netizens.

At the time, he said, "In Korea, kimchi is a very important food, but in China, kimchi is just a traditional food of a minority ethnic group called the Korean-Chinese."
