In the coming days, parents must expect failures at daycare centers in the Rhine-Main area.

The Verdi trade union called on employees in the social and educational services in Hesse to go on warning strikes on Wednesday and Thursday.

Against the background of the ongoing collective bargaining, the employees want to draw attention to their job situation, as stated in a statement.

On Wednesday, educators, social workers and employees from the disability aid of the cities and municipalities in the districts of Main-Taunus, Hochtaunus and Wetterau are planning to meet for a demonstration in Friedberg in the morning.

According to Verdi, around 250 participants are expected there.

A meeting is also planned in Gießen on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, the employees of the cities of Frankfurt and Offenbach as well as the district of Offenbach will meet in front of Offenbach's town hall.

From there they move to Dietzenbach, after which there should be a rally at the town hall square.

According to Kerstin Ideler from Verdi, 500 to 600 participants are expected at the demonstration.

Also on Thursday, the employees of the social and educational services of all towns and communities in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis are called to a all-day warning strike.

A demonstration is planned in Gelnhausen.

Collective bargaining in social and educational services in the municipal public sector is conducted centrally and affects around 330,000 employees nationwide – around 40,000 of them work in Hesse.

In the second round at the end of March there had been no rapprochement.

The third round of negotiations will take place in Potsdam in mid-May.
