Sunday will be the first round of the presidential election in France.

The candidates work twice as hard and sometimes they beat the same pavement.

In Laon, in the Aisne, for example, there were two public meetings 300 meters apart on Monday evening, one in the colors of Éric Zemmour, the other for supporters of Emmanuel Macron.

Two rooms, two atmospheres.

In Laon, in the Aisne, two public meetings were held Monday evening 300 meters apart, one for the candidate Éric Zemmour, and the other for the supporters of Emmanuel Macron.

Five days before the first round of the presidential election, the two camps got away with it, without crossing each other.

"I ask you to mobilize!"

Under the blue white red flags floating above a room of 250 supporters, Éric Zemmour's spokespersons, like Benjamin Cauchy, galvanize the troops.

They are convinced that they can prove the polls wrong in the home stretch.

Presidential: six days before the first round, the candidates want to convince the undecided

“Obviously, we are going to continue to beat the ground, to beat the stands to explain to the French the project of Éric Zemmour. We are really convinced and motivated and we do not look at the polls, we are confident.

Enthusiasm is intact in Stéphane, who sees his candidate register for the long term.

"There is the presidential election but there is more. I think that Zemmour is only the beginning. For me, it can be sustainable," he said.

A meeting in a select committee on the LREM side

"I'm very happy that we can have a moment to talk about the project."

Much more subdued atmosphere 300 meters from the supporters of Eric Zemmour.

Here, no Marseillaise or slogans.

Around thirty activists from La République en Marche met for an exchange with Stanislas Guérini.

This minimalist format is assumed by the mobilization manager.

"That's the goal. It allows the public to be able to ask them questions directly. In a select committee, the exchanges are much more convivial."

An equally effective in-depth campaign, assures the deputy Republic on the move, Aude Bono-Vandorme: "I find that these exchanges allow us to perhaps improve a little what we are going to do for the next term. The feeling of the field, we only work with that".

Despite the proximity of the two meetings, the sympathizers of the two camps did not meet.

They didn't have much to say to each other anyway.
