At the beginning of the year, the Swedish Parliament decided to pay compensation totaling around SEK 7 billion to households that had unusually high electricity prices in recent months.

Now in April, it is time for the grant to start being paid.

Automatic payment

- It is a compensation that is distributed now for those who had 700 kWh up to 2000 kWh in electricity consumption between December to February, says Torbjörn Eklund, electricity network manager at Njudung energy in Vetlanda.

The sum must be calculated by the electricity companies, which means that private individuals themselves do not have to do anything extra for the sum to be paid out.

According to Torbjörn Eklund, the sum will be adjusted on future invoices.
