It was in 2019 that it became clear that the German car manufacturer Sono Motors would locate the production of 260,000 solar cells at Nevs in Trollhättan for at least eight years, starting in 2020.

The investment was received with open arms by Nevs, which promised hundreds of jobs with skills needs across the entire production chain.

But now it will not be like that, reports Swedish radio Ekot.

Several years late

The turning point came when Sono Motors issued a press release on Tuesday with the information that production will instead end up in the Finnish city of Uusikaupunki.

The plan was for production to start already during the second half of 2020, but according to Ekot, Sono Motors has had financial problems and therefore been forced to postpone the planned start of production.

Production in Finland is now expected to start in the second half of 2023.
